Basically ive got a few threads floating around out there about my algae issues. I have now as of tonight had my six line wrasse die along with my ocellaris clown a few weeks ago. All i am left with is my Blue/yellow chromis and my corals (which arent doing good).

Basically i setup a spare 10 gallon next to my display tank, what if i put my corals (attached to live rock), mangroves, chaeto and other macros, and some live rock in that tank (along with siphoning out all my sand and clean up crew inside the sand, into the 10 gallon)?

The reason i want to do this is that I can tear down the display tank, boil all the rocks/clean all equipment/ and basically start all over. And once cycled, i can put the corals back in the tank.

What do you guys think? Other than the cost of salt and water, I dont think there is any actual costs in doing this and if it can solve my algae issues i think its a good idea.

Probably not what you want to hear, but that won't actually solve your algae problem... it will only be a temporary fix. You need to find the source of the problem and correct it. Otherwise, the algae will return. Most alga require nitrates and/or phosphates, and poor lighting, such as bulbs that have lost their color spectrum can spawn certain types, as well. But with the loss of fish and the poor health of your corals, it definitely sounds like you have a water chemistry issue.

+1. There will not be a quick fix here, sorry. In fact I'm sure if you put everything into your other tank it would soon look like your big tank. There is a problem that needs to be addressed, starting over will only temporarily solve the problem. Post your params along with phosphates and I'm sure someone will help with a solution.
