If you saw my last thread I was having some difficulties primming my new skimmer. now that I have it running I'm not sure its hooked up correctly. when I adjust the air valve it goes from no bubbles I can notice strait up to millions making their way into the display tank. Please take a look at this video and give me an idea if my skimmer apears to be set up correctly. FYI at the time this video was made it has been running 24/7 for about 3 days. Also in case it is a factor the only biolode are 2 small clowns 2 shrimp and a small CUC, ammonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrate 0. FYI kimmer is a reef octopuss BH-800S. Thanks.

the parts I point out are the hoses I think I may have hooked up incorrectly. also it doesn't show very well, but I try to show some of the bubbles in the tank. If you notice no skimate in the skimmer but some in the tank.

The skimmer is gonna make bubbles during break-in. they should lessen extremely over the first couple of days. I had a lot in my display tank as well and never had a problem with harm to my livestock.

Well, it has been a week later and I can't tell one bit of difference from when it first started up. Anything look wrong with setup? is 1 week normal? if it helps there is build up on the inside walls now.

well it has officially been over 1 month and still no skimate and all it does is pour bubbles into the DT. I have it on a 20 gall I hope to make my sump one day with old WC water loaded with waste ect and it is still doing the same thing (couldn't take not being able to see anything in my tank and I'm sure the fish/corals hated it too.

Well as of now I have a beastly algea problem and need my skimmer (which my wife thought cost way too much and was overkill) back in action. Does anyone have any ideas what I can do to get this frustrating hunk of acrylic working properly?

Thank you so much for any help at all.

i have my skimmer setup almost exactly as yours but i'm not using the blue bubble stopper. My skimmer started skimming right away from the momnet i hooked it up. Maybe try contacting reef octopus to see if they can help. Sorry to hear that it's causing you problems, it's a great skimmer. The only issues that i have with it is that i t produces a small amount of microbubbles but nothing to bad after a lot of adjusting the blue air intake tube. But it really goes crazy with microbubbles when i'm feeding, i'm assuming it's from the garlic

it looks the same except mine has a diff air valve. Did you have to replace yours, (maybe too much air or not enough)

mine never came with an air valve, so i just bought one at one of the hardware stores. And i have deffiently done a lot of playing around with it to help lessen the bubbles, it was pretty bad when i first set it up.
