I've got about 35 lbs of LR in my reef tank (to be).

One of these chunks is fairly large and, um, non-holy I guess is how to describe it.

I am thinking about taking it out, taking a chisel, splitting it in two (or however it ends up breaking up) and seeing if I can punch some holes in it...

And then rinsing it and putting it right back in the tank so hopefully nothing dies on it (I don't have anything on it, per se, it's just live rock after all).

Is this a realistic thing to do? Or am I off my knocker!?!

If it is an OK thing to do, does anyone have any idea what I might run in to? (Like, does LR just crumble under a chisel, etc.) Or suggestions in general on this?

too bad you live so far away, I could help you and at the same time use up some of my aggression , LOL. Go for it, cant really hurt anything but I would keep a bucket of salt water near to drop them into once in a while so you have no die off if its cycled.

I broke it up tonight. I was able to make a much better looking structure.
