Water splashed from my sump and onto the power strip. Blew circuit to the room. The faceplate on the wall outlet is cracked. I jaw unplugged everything from this outlet. The breakerboard will not let me flip the breaker back.

What to do now? What are my options? What's the damage? (pocketbook and otherwise) how do I get powerback?

Thankfully everybody is ok. Running extension cords into the room to feed other tanks now (heat and circulation)

    Please help

It would be improper for me to give electrical advice without seeing it personally. You likely need a new electrical outlet. You DEFINITELY need a new powerstrip because the water will evaporate leaving salts and metals inside it. Was the powerstrip hung with a Drip Loop?

lucky you didnt have an electrical fire with the faceplate cracking it means there was more than likely a nice sized arch in that electrical box housing the outlet. for sure get an electrician out to inspect it and advise on repair.

i cant see you paying more than an hour labor and parts to replace the outlet and the breaker if blown. hourly electricians in my area are like $50-75/hr

Thanks guys. My power to the room finally came on. I'm discarding the powerstrip.

Drip loop? Yes. But you wouldn't believe how this happened. The return hose from the return pump blew off, spewing water freaking e v e r y w h e r e. Well some "drops" hit the power strip and as soon as I reached to yank it out of the wall, everything in the room powered off.

I'm going to have an electrician look at asap. I am going to use an adjacent outlet until then.

They are only $10 at home depot/lowes and easy to install if you have any electrical experience. I always turn off the circuit first at the breaker for additional safety.

Even easier, you can get the GFCI circuit breakers and protect every outlet on the circuit.

The only ones I have ever seen was at my lfs for 30.00. It looked like you plugged it into the wall. I have zero experience wiring anything in. Pretty scared of electricity actually.
