Really just started breaking in my skimmer today. Did a 30% water change. It says in my directions excessive wet foaming is normal after freshly mixed water.
Normal break in period 24-48 hours. Depending on bioload.
I have the cup return just going back into the sump vs. the waste collector cuz it's just wet foaming a lot. Maybe I just need to keep adjusting the gate valve down.

Does this sound normal? Will the foam start getting dryer in a couple days?

Also if anyone has a Bullet 2 with a muffler I'm wandering if that really helps. Mine doesn't have the little white cap that I believe they call the muffler.
It's just a hole where the air comes out.

Well if your letting the wet skim go back in the tank you are defeating the purpose of even having a skimmer. What it took out you just put back in. Turn the air down some if you don't want the wet skim. You need to give the skimmer time to get stuff out. Is you skimmate dark black or does it look like tea??

It's just white. Bubbles look clean. I know putting it back in just defeats the purpose, but if it goes into the waste collector it just foams until the waste collector is full then the foam dies(once the ping pong ball cuts off the air outflow) and doesn't make it to the collector at all. Or maybe that's the way it is suppose to be and I just haven't waited long enough for it to foam back up. I was just running it back into the sump until it's broken in and I get the adjustments right. That's what they recommend in the directions.
