If you took sand from 2 yr old tank and just put it in your tank, you're going to have all kinds of problems that normal test kits do not test for. Havent you lost a bunch of things already? I think you did too much too soon and suffering the consequences of it now.

i lost a couple of corals, but that was because it got like 94 or 95 in my house...and the fan was taken away so the water got way too hot....just in case, when i switch the sand from the 55 to the 135, i am going to wash it out like crazy, then run it through an ro water bath, then put it in the tank. so that all the sand is clean....will it work yes no?

by "reef safe" water what are the parameters? have you tested the new water before it hit the tank? and how old in the media in ur single stage. if its coming through cooper tubing have you tested the tank for copper.
also not all water machines in front of stores are not created equally. i killed a whole 18 gal nano assuming that i could use any water machine, you want to go to a water store to ensure you get what is advertied

thats a good idea because you have Am coming from somewhere and you said it didnt move when you did a water change [if it was a good size change 15-20% or more] you should have a tempary drop

I definitely think the tank is going through a cycle, any amount of ammonia, even the slightest amount, can and will cause stress to your fish...You may want to do a major water change...
