Anybody out there breeding gouramis? I raised these bubble nest builders when I was a teen and sold them on the sidewalk for $.25. I just set up a 29 Gallon I got for $5 at a yard sale. I'm going to let the water season for a few weeks before getting fish. I like the Opalenes or the 2-Spot Gouramis. I want to get some plants going first, any ideas for types of plants, lights, sources to obtain plants? Tom

    Welcome to 3reef Tom.

Check out aquabids for your plants.

You need to first decide if you want a high, medium or low light tank. You will then purchases lights based on that criteria. The higher your light level the more fertilizers you will need to use. Medium and high light levels will require the use of CO2 or a carbon source. High light you will need pressurized CO2.

I would suggest going low light since you are looking to have Gouramis. This is the lowest cost option. It will limit your plant choices but you can still have a great looking tank.
