    Your tank looks awesome man! What kinda lighting setup are you running right now?

    Where do I find a "happy medium" when it comes to lighting? I've read some things about that TEK lighting fixture causing bleaching.. Is that just because the corals are too high up in the tank?

    Right now I'm running a 4 bulb T5 fixture.. I literally just put in new ATI bulbs. I have 2 blue pluses 1 aquablue special and 1 purple plus. But my tank is only 16 inches deep and my corals are loving it. I've seen some other tanks my size with 6 bulb fixtures that didn't have any problems with bleaching either, so I don't think you need to worry about it :)

    Good to know!

    I can't wait to add my fish! I seeded the tank about 3 days ago, but it's pretty much brand new, so I'm expecting a full cycle.

    I'm tempted to pee in it to get the ammonia going!

    lol just put a little fish food or something in there. Personally I put a few hermit crabs in mine, and fed them a little bit. Some ppl think that's cruel, but hey there all still living. Are you planning on setting up a quarantine tank?

    I just put a dinner shrimp in there to rot a little. That should do the trick. I also put about 4 very large cups of sand from my 29G onto the sandbed of the 90. Hopefully they'll colonize fast!

    I'm leaving the 29 up and running for now. At least until I know the params in the 90 are stable.

    I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the 29. I have spent a lot of money on it, and it is a nice setup.

    So I'm working too much to do anything for the tank this week.

    Last night I had a nightmare that it sprung a leak. It was no bueno. Luckily when I woke up my carpet is still as dry as ever. ;-)

    The shrimp has done a good job of kick starting things;

    This mornings chem values;

    Ammonia; 0.25
    Nitrates; 15
    Nitrites; 0.25

    Would it be crazy to say the ammonia has dropped already? I figure the tank has been seeded for about 1.5 weeks now... maybe even 2. The ammonia was higher yesterday. I'm sure.

    Anyway. Hopefully I'll have some lights before too too long.

    Ordered my lights!!

    I'm pretty excited. I had been set on the suntek t5 6bulb fixture.... but I did a little more research before I ordered it.

    Heat is a major issue in my room. I love LED moonlights. I don't feel like paying 50 dollars extra for mounting hardware that I feel should be included with the fixture. I hate the idea of having 3 power cords and a separate timer, and from what I've read, I don't need 6 bulbs for the livestock I plan on keeping..... because of all of this, I changed my mind, and ordered this fixture:

    AquaticLife T5 HO 4-Lamp Light Fixtures w/ Lunar LEDs

    Yeah, it's a 4 bulb rather than 6, but I'm confident from the hundreds of reviews I have read, that that should be sufficient...

    Reasons I love this unit (even though I don't have it yet):

    1. It has 4 built in LED moonlights.
    2. The purchase includes mounting hardward.
    3. The purchase includes bulbs (which I'll obviously replace when I get my first coral, with some geisseman or ATI)
    4. It has a built in, back lit LCD controller right on the unit! It allows complete control of lighting. Having this controller built in also means... 1 power cord, rather than 3.
    5. The suntek doesn't include an accrylic screen to protect the bulbs from splashes... the aquaticlife does.

    While I am getting a fixture with 2 less bulbs, I'm confident it was a good buy. I've read countless reviews on the aquaticlife, and all of them have nothing but good things to say.

    I know that compromising for a few dollars isn't worth it, but I have litterally saved 200 dollars, and will be getting a unit I think I may like a whole lot more than the suntek. I'll put that 200 towards a phosban reactor and my sump build.

    The order ships out today, so hopefully it'll be here mid next week. I'll be sure to post a video review of the unit when I get my hands on it! I can't wait for the purr of the UPS diesel, and to see that butch lady in those hottt brown shorts walk up my driveway. :eek:;)

    I have the exact same fixture and couldn't be happier with it. Good Choice!

    Awesome to hear! I'm so glad I caught myself and double checked before ordering the Tek. I have no doubt it is also a great fixture, but the Aquaticlife just looks like more of what I want overall.

    Your tank looks fantastic, so I'm guessing it is a good lamp!

    Mind me asking what bulbs you're running? I'm thinking it probably won't be long before I switch out the included ones for some ATI / Giesseman.
