    Greetings,

I just got my light shipped:

Current USA SunPod Metal Halide Fixture, 250 Watt HQI

    My tank is 30"X20"X18".

It seems to me that the light is very very bright and fan is loud. My wife actually got a headache from the brightness. Any suggestions?

    Thanks,
    Anoush

Put a canopy over the top of the tank so you don't get light reflection off of it.

Thanks for your suggestion Otty. I am considering using a canopy or something to shield the reflection off the top, but even the light that emanates from inside the tank is bothersome to my wife. A neighbor has suggested we turn the light on at night when we go to sleep. I am wondering if that would bother the fish because they won't be able to rest.

Do they need absolute darkness to rest? Right now, I just have a couple of blue damsels and no corals, but I am planning to add more fish and some soft corals to begin with. So, what do you think about having the light on atg night?
