According to API my calcium newly mixed is 520. Anyone else with the same result. Ever since my 2 Montis are dying I was dosing the same amount of calcium and now my tank is at 600. I am trying to lower this. SHould I change salt and to which brand?

Clarification. Are you dosing and using brightwell salt? Or just high concentration of Ca in your salt.

I was dosing for calcium along with the brightwell salt water change. I am now only dosing the buffer till the calcium drops

I use reef crystals for salt, and am really happy with that. Also, If you are not doing so already, you should really be testing for and balancing Mg, Alk, and Ca separately. If you get all three of in sync you will not have any issues with the levels getting too high. I would look out at bulk reef supplies web site, they have a lot of great info on 3 part dosing. I switched to this a few years ago, away from straight Ca buffer, and I can not tell you how much better my tank is as a result.

As far as changing salt I would go 50/50 new salt and old. Each successive water change start adding 10% more new salt than old until your all on your new brand.
