Im going to be replacing my sump on my tank within the next week or two, and have a question about adding it to my set up. I bought a 29 gallon tank from petco and siliconed the baffles in 2 weeks ago and have been letting everything harden and set up. I put water in it for the first time this weekend and Have a small leak that I need to fix by adding silicone to one baffle. After fixing it I was planning on waiting another week to let the new silicone set up.Now my question is... Will my tank go through another Diatom bloom with the new silicone? Is there anything I can/need to do besides wipe it down and clean (not using soap or chems) to avoid any issues? Also I was planning on treating this as a larger then usual water change and use all fresh s/w when bringing it online. My typical w/c is 5gallon a week, with this new setup Im hoping that total water will be around 15ish gallons depending on how much LR I put in Refugium, and how much my skimmer/return pump displaces(wouldnt think that much), aside from making sure that temp, salinity, and ph are all on par with DT anything else to consider? Tank is a 57g (Guessing 45 total gallons in DT) so even 15g doesnt seem like that much
    Thanks for any ideas.

Sounds good to me, but I'd feel safe puttin it online after 24 hours or so. Not sure about the diatom bloom, maybe, but prob minor if any. The only thing I'd suggest is making sure you mix your saltwater with a powerhead for 24 hours to make sure levels are stable and its oxygenated.

Ive been mixing with a powerhead and heater in a 5 gallon HD bucket and typically let mix for 48hr or longer depending on my schedule. im trying to think of a container that I can use to mix up aprox 15 or so gallons this time. Thinking maybe a small garbage can or something.

I use a $8 15g rubbermaid tote from walmart, but a Brute trashcan works well too, if ya wanna store more water
