    Pros:

One of the most efficient members of your clean up crew. They eat detritus, uneaten food, and carrion
Their population size will let you know if you are feeding too much

    Cons:

The bristles are real annoying if you get some in your hands. In the case of fireworms, it's not just annoying....it hurts.

i reallly didnt like them the first time i heard about them, but there are alot of falce stories like bristle worms ate my coral, but they only eat dead things, so they are beneficial.

I run a tank cleaning and servicing business and one day I came back to the shop to place some coral skeletons that the owner no longer wanted into the reef tank at the shop and to my dismay, I saw at least 20 little baby brittle stars. they're doing quite well in the tank eating all the uneaten food etc. IMO they are a hardy and beneficial addition to a tank

I would keep them in my tank until they became a size that may be a risk for the other occupants. I would remove after they exceeded three or so inches. Personally, I think they are a welcome part of the cleanup crew. I have some small ones in my Nano. Probably my 90g also....just haven't seen them.

I, as have you, read all the horror stories about them growing to 20 feet long and eating every coral in sight - after which they burrow through the glass and eat small children & family pets !! LOL Dem Bristle worms gots a bum rap !

So many people refer to bristle worms as pests - but in fact they are great sand shifters and the do clean up detritus. I don’t mind them, my fuge is simply infested with them – I like having them around as I am convinced everything has its purpose.
