I have a friend who has tons of them and I thought it was disturbing. I only seen a few here and there at night. I think as long as they are not out of control and big I don't see the harm in them since they are scavengers.

Not pretty to look at, but very effective at scavenging waste from every nook and cranny that your crabs, shrimp, and/or snails cannot get to. I have tons of them in my tank and even though they creep my wife out, they are harmless and do play an important role in your tank.

They are a good thing. They eat excess food and processes it into particulate food for your corals ;) They grow in proportion to excess food though, so, if you have a lot of uneaten food, there will be more. So, this can be a bad sign as it could mean you are feeding too much at once. Otherwise they are very good though.
