    greetings,
I know we have had lot of threads about the ol' Bristleworm...the ebay sale was funny as could be....
We have heard many ways to capture them...But I have never heard anyone speak of this.
I'm assuming it works like most other marine traps, kind of like a crab net or such.
    Anyhow just browsing Petsmart...found this...thought I'd share.

Interesting how the marketing speak on the package leads you to believe that in the middle of the night the "terrible bristleworm" comes out and destroys EVERYTHING!!:p

I used the trap-em thing for 3 days and caught 1 bristleworm. I think the bait rotting in you tank is worse than the worms so I took it out.

I had to trap an extremely clever little mantis shrimp once. With a few adaptations, my method should probably work just as well for bristleworms.

Feed the aquarium lightly for a couple of days to ensure hungry pests.

Get a length of clear pvc tube. Put one end in the aquarium, the other in a 5 gallon bucket. Start a siphon and clamp it off just above the bucket.

Arrange the end in the aquarium on the bottom of the aquarium in a nice safe looking spot. Insert a loose piece of floss deep in the tube. Insert some tasty nuggest of food. Insert another loose piece of floss.

The tasty, smelly, nugget of food is now trapped deep in the end of the tube between the loose floss pieces.

Turn out the lights and wait for about 1 slowly consumed martini.

With a flashlight in one hand, and the clamp in the other, look at the tube. Open clamp if necessary.

I have personally owned and tried this trap. It doesnt work at all. I had it in there for 4 days and never caught a single one:angry:. Far less effective than even the homemade tupperware traps.

I have always used a small pop bottle, tied a string to the top, put a piece of shrimp in it and put it on the bottom with the neck close to a rock and the sand. Leave it this way turn the lights off a watch it fill up. then pull it up of the tank. Has never failed to catch at least 5 or 6 each time I have used it.

 That is a good method. I use a similar version. Move the rock and suck 'em up with a Turkey Baster.

    ... but I am a simpleton:p

I tried a turkey baster but the suckers were holding on really tight! Didn't get any that way!
