Well like everyone else i have become a victim of my Brittle star thing is like other people i thought if he was well fed he whould be safe well i was wrong last weeki had to remove him after having him for a year or so he got so big like 9 or 10 inches across then he never came out any more i woke up one morning to find him munching on my dragon goby a big loss to my system as nice size gobys are hard to get locally i had to take out 90% of my liverock to catch the star not a easy task then finally i called the fish gallery in houston texas and they had a large dragon goby so i took 3 hour ride and got the new guy. So the moral of the story is if the description says (green star of death) thats what it means.

You know I have a brittle star that is tan. It seems well behaved but do you think it will turn? Does the color matter in determining it's lethal tendencies?

The green ones are the ones that are normally bad. It took me about $200 in fish losses before I took mine out and threw it in the sump... great scavengers but I'll never have another one...

any brittle that gets big will ambush fish.they hide in rocks and caves and drop down on fish like a spider.so far the only ones i trust are these tan an brown ringed ones that get 3 inches max.they look just like the green ones.i had 3 tiny ones, now i must have 50 but most are only about an inch

I dont trust any starfish... A starfish to me is a good reason to get some harlequin shrimp.
