    I have personally not heard of them being a problem. I suppose they could create competition for the hermits, but I've watched my crabs walk right up and take food from my stars, so that doesn't seem likely. My kids love seeing their arms stick out and telling me they found another baby star. I never bother to say that's as big as they get.

    It is a dry heat, yeah right !

    I usually see this type of spawning event when I do a large water change. I think is must be the change in parameters that triggers it.

    They are such secretive creatures, I have ones that are about 2 inches across and I never see them unless they are out spawning.

    Even though I hardly ever see them I figure there has to be any where from 50-100 in my little tank based on the numbers I see out and about during spawning.

    They came on my live rock. I've always had them as long as I can remember. The only time I see them is when I feed. The arms extend from the rock trying to catch passing food. Great scavengers in my opinion.
