    To blanch means to cook briefly in boiling water. Briefly=less than a minute.

    nope, hasnt gone for it yet. tryin a new trick tonight. cookin it in garlic. lol. and thnx for the cuilinary lessin sparky. im gonna go try it now.

    Here's an idea--while boiling the water for the broccoli, use a garlic press and press a whole bunch of garlic into the water. Then cook the broccoli in that water. This way the garlic will permeate the vegetable without having to saute it in fat. :)
