I was moving some things around in my tank and i hit my purple acropora one of the little arms snaped right off at the dead base. I was able to glue it right back in the same place.

    Will that arm live?

It should if your fingers did not touch it dry.

Dose this happen often? I mean i didnt hit it that hard. I just bumped it and it fell right off. it looks like a healthy coral. Its very much alive.

I would have glued it to another plug and had a frag. The broken arm would grow and you would have a coral to trade for something new.

ya i thought about that. But it just didnt look as good with that missing arm right in the front of the coral.

I didnt think they broke off that easy.

Would you guys recommend leaving the arm off and letting the coral grow a new one? Or since its already glued back on just leave it?

I would have left it off and glued it to a frag plug. I question whether it will encrust back on itself and be able to be strong enough to support it's growth as it gets larger.
