RO/DI is extremely corrosive. It has been stripped of all its ions and is trying to get back to its natural "dirty" state so will strip the copper out of the metal alloy and decimate a reef system very quickly.

Never use any common metals with RO or RO/DI water. This is also why it is not advised to store RO/DI in a drinking water type pressure tank, it will damage the rubber bladder quickly and the evidence will be TDS in the finsihed water and eventually black grunge. If you have a combo drinking water/reef RO/DI always isolate the DI from the pressurized RO with a check valve so the DI is fed directly from the RO membrane and not the TDS creep water in the pressure tank. Its a simple $5 modification and will be saved in the first DI replacement alone.

I did not know about the corrosive nature of RODI water, until 6 months ago. I ordered some water storage tanks, and was informed that they do not warranty tanks storing RODI because of its corrosive nature.
