Brown algae...I think

    I think its algae but I don't know. I keep getting this brown "stuff" on my glass. I'll scrape it off, but can start to see it again the following day. When I do scrape it off, its almost powder-like the way it floats away. Not like regular green algae that tends to stay together. Any idea what it may be?

    It might be diatoms. not a fun thing to get rid of. Is your UV working?

    I just put it on a timer last week or so....I guess I'll put it back. ::)
    What are the side effects of diatoms?

    the Side effect are just more diatoms. It is often very hard to get rid of and spreads very quickly
