I have a bunch of this algae on my rocks. That is pretty much the only place it is. I think because i didn't clean it good enough and all the dead stuff made the algae happy.. lol My question is, can I wipe it off the rocks while it's in the tank and just sucke it up with my vacume or will it make more algae grow?

What kind of cleanup crew you have in there? I know turbo snails go after the brown from my own experiences, You can do what your thinking, I think it wont make it go away, but it would def help and like I said if you dont have any turbos, or margarita snails in there go get some after you clean most of it off, you should be ok after a week or so.

Just the brown slimy stuff. I already asked about the hairy stuff. lol I just wondered if I wiped it off in the tank if it would make it any worse. I definately need more of a clean up crew. I already know that much. I have been trying to find a place to buy them from since I have to order everything online. Don't have a lfs close. So, it's just easier and I don't have to travel an hour an a half to get there. Any one with that info would be greatly appreciated also!!

Have you recently gotten new lights? It may just be an algae bloom. My friend has a fifty gallon reef aquarium and went from compacts to a 400 watt halide and he had a huge algae bloom. but it eventually went away on its own.

I did just get new lights, but the bloom happened before I put them on, and it actually is getting better already. I just keep doing partial water changes and just cleaned my filter, which is canister for now. I REALLY would like to build my sump/refuge but need at least a 30 gallon aquarium to do so.. :(
