Well a short bit of insight......

Tank was wonderful and had been up about 3 years when the sump pump went out. I was out at work and didnt return home for about 2 months after and the tank was living off powerheads and the protein skimmer. Needless to say I lost a fair amount of stuff with no one able to replace it and keep an eye on it for me until I got home to do it myself.

So recently I replaced the pump and cleaned everything up to get it going again. My girlfriend moved in so she is able to let me know whats going on while I am out at work. Recently I started dosing kents essential elements to try and bring back the coraline algae but am getting this brownish growth.

Not exactly sure what it is and obviously I cant give you water specs at the moment. LOL I know the SG is a little low in the .022 area and the lights are PC 50/50's running about 7 hours a day. From the looks of the pictures one is the sand which would be the bottom pic and the other seems like on the lower rocks a bit of coraline is starting to develop or atleast spread.

If you could give me some idea of what this is I would be very great full! She is going to run by the LFS next week and have the water tested for everything so I can get a better idea of what is going on.

    Thanks
    Jacob

Oh at the moment there are is not much in the way of cleaners. So I was thinking of ordering a cleaner pack and having her put it in. Obviously I will go over in detail how to acclimate them so she doesnt toast 150 bucks! LOL

Looks to be diatoms, prob from the introduction of the new pump into the tank. It should clear up on its own once the new silicates are used up from the plastic.
