I have a brown film appeared on time of the water it's "clingy" and smells very fishy ? I have never had if before, did a 20 gallon water change just now , only change is that. Have started using snow to feed my corals, is this from the snow ?
    Very smelly fishy smell.

Any advice or suggestions, not sure if this is the right group, didn't see a smelly water board.

Sounds like its probably just proteins from the livestock in the tank. I don't have experience with snow so ? On that one.

Sounds like the surface isn't being skimmed properly. Possibly pushing water away from the overflow? I would be more concerned with maintaining a clean surface area, rather than a diagnosis of what it's from.

Thanks had some calcium issues (still having) recently, was advised to increase water changes and try this snow food, been doing 15 - 20 gallons a week, still have calcium at 560, everything else is great, think I am doomed !
One of my bubble corals appear to be giving up the ghost, this is the 2nd one that appears to have just shriveled into nothing ? But others are fine ? So who knows ?

I don't understand why this would suddenly happen ? It's never been an issue before and to be honest the fish smell is very stinky

ok, what size is your tank again? sorry!

but your doing 15-20 gallon changes a week! are you doing plain RODI water topoffs? If not thats prob your prob! your prob adding 20 gallons of saltwater to a 17 gallon water change! Also, try pointing your power heads towards the surface!

Ok, so I remove 15-20 gallons of water from the tank, and add the same amount of fresh water mixed with enough salt to match the salinity, temp and volume of the water I removed. Isn't that what I am supposed to do ?
The tank is 90!gallons with a 30 galloon refugium

It sounds like one of your corals expelled it's zooxanthellae. It definitely has a rank smell to it. This happens from time to time in our reef tanks. Normally, our protein skimmers nab it before it can collect to any large degree. If that's what happened, be thankful you didn't have excess nitrates/phosphates in your system. This can trigger a snot algae (dinoflaggelate) bloom.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    Yes!

"clingy and smelly" always make me think dinoflaggelate.

If the issue continues please post an image.
