Was browsing and read a thread on BJD and peroxide dips for wall hammers. I have 6 Euphyllia in my reef starting with a wall frogspawn I bought 9 months ago, 2 branching frogspawn, 2 branching hammer, and a wall hammer. My wall frogspawn has never had any kind of goo on it what soever and niether has one of the branching frogspawns. The branching hammer and a branchign frogspawn has little brownish string coming from the mouth every now and then but not more than once a week or so. The wall hammer has never really taken in my tank and over the last 3 or so months since purchase has slowly receded back and has also had little brown strings coming from the mouths every now and then.

Is this BJD??? Or is it the coral just pooping?? I also thought of it as being a poo but I know BJD is very contagious and can wipe out corals in a tank quickly. Besides the wall hammer everything else always looks pretty healthy. I think I may just be paranoid I spend so much time and effort on the tank I worry about things going wrong all the time. Tempted to do a peroxide dip but dont want to stress the corals if not needed.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
The Euphyllias sound like they area expelling waste and or zooxanthellae.

BJD looks just like it sounds a glob of jelly.

Ive never witnessed a glob, just long thin brown stringy strands from time to time. No bleaching though and most have been in my tank for over 6 months so I guess its prob just waste products then.

What about the wall hammer, after moving it to various spots, lights, flow, etc it just seems to get worse. SHould I jsut do a peroxide dip as a why not kind of thing? If it does work will it eventually grow new tissue over the old skeleton or should I frag it to pieces?

It's been so long since I had a wall hammer. What I remember most is that it did not like me messing with it.

I've kind of left it in place for a few weeks at a time but it never seems to improve. Kind of frustration must be frog the fragging during collection practice since the branching hammers don't have he same issues it seems. Funny the wall frogspawns see to do better too though
