    I was just wondering about the layer of brown algae that forms on my brothers sandbed about everyweek. I stir the sand and it goes away, but it comes back within the week, Source? Action?

    Normal in newer tanks...

    Stirring it up will do no good.

    Have him get some hermit crabs.

    In due time it will disappear.
