This terrible brown algae has been taking over my sand bed for the last week or so. I tried vacuuming the sand bed but it comes back after about 5 hours. I then removed it manually by hand and did 5 water changes (15% each) this week. No clue how to stop this stuff, my lawnmower blenny and tang wont touch it.
Water parameters appear normal (I know the algae is consuming them)

Any ideas, my skimmer is taking a lot of stuff off... maybe j

How old is your tank? Has it fully cycled yet? It took about 8+ months to be algae free.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Please google "Dinoflagellates in Marine Aquariums" for images.

With out an image of your algae it would just be speculation.

I think that's cyano. How often are you doing water changes? Do you have much flow in that area?

    Yes bad cyano.

Use RO/DI water if you can.

Try some phosguard or GFO product.

Reduce feedings and rinse all frozen foods.

    Increase flow and surface agitation.

Yup, cyano. Dose 1ml of hydrogen peroxide per 10 gallons daily, that will help a little. Like said above, us RODI water, gfo, and reduce feedings.

I have only ever used RODI water. I feed a small pinch of herbivore flakes and carnivore flakes and a small strip of seaweed.
I had ich a while ago and added herbtana, that stuff was a nightmare. Will the hydrogen peroxide work or will that kill my corals etc? Is there any product for cyano?

Make sure your temp is stable. Doesnt matter if its in the high range or low but if the temp is constantly changing this can cause cyano.

Depending on the type of coral you have, go lights out for 48-72 hours. No light what so ever, I mean blackout curtains if you have to. If you have any hard coral this method is not recommended. Your soft coral will survive. Also increase flow and decrease nutrients.
