ALright how old is your tank. sounds pretty new, so its diotomes. Yes it ugly but it will go away! Cuc will help a little, just let it be and go on its own. But your using tap water. witch has silicates.diotomes eats of silicates. You should look into a ro/di system. Dont get a goby just yet,

CUC is a clean up crew. Snails, crabs, etc.

RO/DI is reverse osmosis/de-ionized water. You can buy RO/DI water at most LFS(Local Fish Stores) or you can buy a filter system to make it yourself.

I am going through the diatom part of the cycle myself and have as CUC that is helping to clear it somewhat, and from what I have read, it will go away on its own and then I'll probably start getting hair algie.

I hope I am not sounding rude, but it sounds as though you are getting started before doing much reading here or elsewhere about saltwater tank basics. I have been learning by reading, mostly on this site, all kinds of different threads that talk about a variety of different subjects. There is a lot here to read and learn, but it gives you something to do while waiting for each step of the maturity cycle. To be successful in marine aquariums there is a lot of waiting invloved so please be patient.

once you stop using tap water it should go away in about two weeks, i fell into that trap as well when i started. if you dont want to buy a system you can just go to usually any fish store and buy water, i pay 50 cents a gallon at mine.

hi i use regular filter tab water. -go to home depot and get you a $10 dollar hausing and a $7dollar carbon filter then filter your water add the conditoner, is not the conditioner the is making the dyton bloom is the water and tha fact the you tank is new you need to wait at list 6 weeks so your nitrogen cicle finish befor you put any good fish, put in a small demsel and wait paitions is the key to this hobby you alsow have cilica in your sand one the dyton eat it all up it wil go oway is natural but if you put a sand shifting goby and you are not finish cicleling your tank, is going to dye when your nitrite lavel get to hi for the fish to survive, you know about the cicle prosses... because it sounds to me like you did not do mush reading ... but is not to late we are here to help just have a little pations befor you go crazy bying abrithing in the store ok
