Brown stringy stuff ?

    So my tank has been up for about 2 months and in the past few days I have had an outbreak of some stringy brown strands all over my rock , sand bed and even the corals. I have been blowing it off everything with a turkey baster, but within about 24hrs it comes back. Is is just a diatom outbreak ?

    sounds more like dinoflagellates to me

    does it trap air bubbles? is it slimey?

    does it look kind of like this?

    Definitely NOT what is in that picture, it is stringy and velvety.
