brown things

    hey guys first post just setup my tank yesterday and got some stuff i have no idea wat it is heres the pics

    its the little brown dots by the way wat are they

    The stringy stuff looks like macro algae usually what you put in a refugium. the brown spots look like cryno. I would watch the heat also not that 80.2 is bad but you don't want it getting much higher then that.

    yeh it stays at about that the entire time doesnt go into the 81... prolly tommorow i am going to put the heater nozzle down just a tad

    yeh the brown stuff are alive tho they move around on the rocks sometimes and on the glass

    also how long can i expect my cycle to take i am using live rock that was in the lfs cycled tank for quite awhile and i am using live sand any thoughts

    usually 4 to 6 weeks, do you have any test kits? testing the water will let you know how the cycling is going.

    not sure about the brown stuff though if it moves around its not cryno.

    well dont have any test kits of now going to get some tommorow forgot to pick those up yesterday well wat should i do about those brown things

    it probably just some diatom algae normal when cycling.

    what kind of lights do you have? the lights are likely helping the growth. if you have no coral or fish just shut the light and run the filters and pumps. i dont know just my opinion
