I had it a 3rd of the way up the rock until I was advised to put it on the sand. It improved its color slightly, but not significantly. Tonight I placed it underneath an overhang in my rock structure for a little more shade. Any other advice? Here are photos of when I bought it and now. I turned my leds down a little too.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
They can take a long time to regain their color. I would check phosphates and nitrates levels as well if you have not done so recently.

Nitrates are 0, I haven't invested in a phosphate test yet. But it's likely that I have some.
