Brownish algae on glass..Diatoms?

    Hi guys,

    Just wanted verification on an algae that has been growing on my tank. Is it diatoms?

    yes sir looks like diatoms to me just use a magfloat and clean them off

    I would have to say yes, that looks like diatoms to me. With my experience with algae (I just got a huge algae problem in control) no matter how often you scrape off diatoms they will always grow back as long there is something for them to feed off of. Water changes are the key to controling and eventually eliminating diatoms. That's what I did and eventually they killed themselves out.

    Agreed! Been doing alot of water changes and also added Cerith snails. They're awesome cleaners.

    fighting conch for the sand bed + ceriths for the sides = one mean green diatom eating machine!
