I had purchased a BRS reactor for carbon with a maxi jet 1200 which they had recommended. They say the use the Italian made maxi jet which I thought I was getting but I got the one made in china. Anyway i have the reactor mounted 2 1/2 feet from sump and the head pressure I think i make the maxi jet work harder and thats why i am getting vibration and that impeller noise. I checked the impeller and it is fine. Anyone know of a power head that will work with some head pressure and not make noise?

I use a Maxi 600, 1200 is way over rated by them imo. For gfo you dont want it to tumble and create dust. And with carbon you want a gentle tumble to keep it from clumping, depenig on the kind of carbon you get.

+1 You need a lower flow rate with reactors to allow the media time to absorb impurities from the water.

Also, I saw a discussion not long ago concerning the Maxi-Jets. Seems the new style from Marineland are junk. The old (much better) design, however, is still available under a different name, although it eludes me ATM.
