    Question,
On BRS website they recommended placing the GFO before the carbon on their dual reactors. Is it a "must" to have the GFO before Carbon? By having the carbon first, does it defeat the purpose of the GFO then?

I ask this because I am using a MJ1200 that I had to turn down in order to get the recommended flow rate. I figure if I can place the carbon before the GFO I can open the gate valve a little more thus cutting the noise of the MJ1200 by half.

    Please advise,

    Thank you,

    Shrek

If you put the carbon first the flow will be to low for the GFO to do any good.

If you put the carbon if to high a flow and get it tumbling it will break into particles and turn your water black.

The reason they say to put GFO first is because you need to dial in the right tumble. If you have carbon first that would be really hard to do. The carbon is supposed to be held all the way up at the top and NOT tumble. That is the reason why you have to put GFO first. Eventually you have to start turning up the dial because dirt gets inside and the GFO doesn't tumble as much. That's what I do with mine. Probably a good idea to get the prefilters for the maxijet so that doesn't happen. Maxijets are just loud pumps in general.

I would place a tee between the two reactors and valve them seperately. GFO and carbon need different flow rates and have different useful lives so by being able to seperate them you can maximize their lifespans and get best treatment.

Not a fan of dual reactors myself for that very reason.
