    I have never used purple up before so I can't speak to its effectiveness. I use Kent's superbuffer. This, combined with regular water changes keeps my ph at a pretty steady 8.1.

    Your welcome. I hope it helps. I also have a coral beauty and I would be pretty devastated if I lost her. How old is your tank? Mine is right around 6 months and I am finally starting to feel like I am getting a handle on things. But the one basic that I have learned is that if you keep your water conditions within those guidelines, you will have much more success with your tank.

    my tank is still under two months. the cb was my first fish. it really sucks that she died. i just want to prevent this from happening again. i think i'll go with a clown for the next fish, they are supposed to be hardy.
