I've known that bryopsis has been in my tank for a while now, but it was only on the fringes on a couple of powerheads and intakes and outputs, and some on the overflow. I battled it for a couple months manually, bleaching whatever I saw it on, but it has finally spread to the rocks, and It's moving fast. The only thing I've read that may save me is raising the Mg. Will this really work? What will the adverse effects on fish and coral be? Mobile inverts like shrimp? Anyone have any info on this battle?

What worked for me. I also had a bad break out after my tank cycled and started before what I knew it was.
Don't know if it will work for you - but here it goes :)
#1 anything that was on base rock I cooked
#2 lawnmower benny (yes he ate it all off the back of the tank)
#3 chemi pure elite (remove phosphates)
    #4 increased cuc by 10 snails (75gal)
#5 would not recommend (took advise from lfs) bought a collector urchin) did a great job but also eats coralline algae.

I have eliminated gha and bryopisis in about 45 days.

A lawnmower ate Bryopsis for you? I've never heard anything like that. I thought the stuff was poisonous to anything that tried to eat it.

For real - I know I looked it up and saw the same thing, but for real he ate it all off the back of the tank. The rest died after I put in the chemi pure elite

Not sure if he is just a mutant or what but I saw him do it:)

You sure it was byprosis? It could have been fern caulerpa. They look similar and that would explain why he was eating it.

LPC136, glad to hear that im not the only one, I just started my battle, I ordered a gfo reactor. should be here tuesday, I also ordered the kent m-tech and will be raising my mg. For now i am picking it out by hand and doing water changes. I also have a lawnmower blenny who wont touch this stuff. I think i brought it in on one of my new rocks, took awhile but it is here. I will post some pics later for you to look at. I have lots of flow, good lights, feed two to three times per week, and do regulat water changes. So raising the mag is my last ditch way to rid this crap. Or to take the tank down:cry:
