If you don't have coral, I've heard emerald crabs will eat GHA. It might eat that as well.

But stop it soon. I waited and it was awful. Took me a little over a month the get most of it out.

    Good luck

No known predators and manual removal doesn't work most of the time. I know a few people that have taken tanks down for this stuff.

Search this site and you will see several people have used Kent Tech M to raise the magnesium level and kill the bryopsis. It worked for me. You may lose some snails but everything else in the tank seems to tolerate it.

how bad is the outbreak? That stuff is the worse! I have manually removed rocks that have it and left them out in the air to dry out and die.

Someone did tell me that a lettuce nudibranch will eat it...not sure if that is true. I have bought one just in case but I dont know if it is eating any of it or not because i have it under control.

Again Kent Magnesium i have heard helps!

Mg won't work for all species of it. I had it and it didn't work. Depending on how bad it is, it may be best to just take the rock out it's on and spot treat it with a bleach solution using a q-tip, dip the rock in some salt water to rinse and put it back. Works great.

I used Tech M, and it worked. However, raise the levels slowly (25 ppm per day to be safe), and only up to 1650 max, or corals may bleach from it. I lost quite a few corals that bleached, and some still haven't recovered fully from the treatment about 4 months ago.

Also, other magnesium solutions don't work, AFAIK. I used Bulk Reef Supply magnesium, mixed in proper proportions, and it did nothing for bryopsis, even when I brought it up to 1700 ppm. When I used the Tech M and brought it to 1650, the bryopsis started graying within 4 days. I'm pretty sure the Tech M has a contaminant in it that kills the bryopsis, rather than the magnesium itself. Every magnesium supplement I've ever seen is clear, and nearly indistinguishable from water (beyond the mixing lines), except for the Tech M, which has a yellowish tint, will cloud the area where it's added with that slight yellow tint, and isn't transparent like all the others. Tech M is almost opaque; just pour it in a cup and look at the stuff.

When you say bleach solution, do you mean bleach mixed with fresh water? And at what ratio? I have some GHA my CUC isn't cleaning as quickly as I'd like on the rocks. I could do that.
