Just got back from home depot. I got the plumbing supplies together and rustoleum countertop paint. My original plan was to have the drain from aquarium to sump/skimmer and have it T off to fuge with a ball valve after T to sump and after T to fuge. Is that right? Then a seperate return. The sump/fuge from left to right is sump/skimmer, return and fuge.

Question? Can I just run a straight drain to sump/skimmer area. Then my return would head up to a T and direct some return flow to the fuge with a ball valve to control the flow...is this possible or suggested or not? I also finished my stain and seal on the stand. I plan on painting the inside with rustoleum tomorrow and then attacking the plumbing.

The second tee is for maintenance I put another ball valve on it with a barb fitting to attach a hose.

Yes... You can have it drain into the sump/skimmer area that is the exact way mine is set up and is used this way often.

Ok so I painted the inside of the stand with rustoleum (earth) and it has been drying for about 4 days now. I have started the plumbing and would like feedback on the set-up.

I have just run the drain pipe down into the skimmer area with the "J" or "U" design. Do I need a ball valve on this? (1st sump pic). On the return it comes up and then t's off the the fuge with a ball valve and then I will run the rest of the pluming up. Do I want the flow to the fuge set up this way or should I tee off from the drain going the the skimmer area? I dont know if it matters or not. Thanks,

    Brian
