    Hi,

before joining this forum and reading that i should wait a year to get a bubble tip anemone, i went and brought one from the LFS who happily sold it to me.

i put it in, all was fine, it moved across the tank over night and then sat there happily for 2 days, then it spat out some white stuff which had little black bits in. and it also had its mouth wide open, the next morning it was all shriveled up, then i turned the light on and it slowly opened up.

Over the next week it showed slight improvement, then it started to move again, until now it seems to have found its final hidy hole. But it still shrinks after the lights have turned off, then come back to its full body once the lights are back on again.

    Is this behaviour normal?

Is my anemone going to die, or is it on the way to health again?

The tenticles are no longer inflated, but long and thin.

All water param's are ok, as well as temp etc.

I am using 250W MH lighting.

My sebae deflates and closes once the lights go off. He opens up like a magnificent flower when I turn the lights back on every morning! Good luck with your BTA, hope he makes it :)

i have this before during first try i was very happy because its so beautiful one day when i wake up i saw my tank very cloudy and i was looking were is my BTA and i was shock when i see him stuck in the power head dead and all other the fish in the tank died as well.becareful with this according to the more experience reefer anemones move when something wrong in the tank thus sometimes they got stuck and killed.

well his been put where he is for the past 4 days, so hopefully that is just a sign he was never fully settled. i had a close call with a sea hare, it desided to try and eat a tiny bit of algae off the power head, luckily thats the only thing i lost, i got sucked into 5 peices, not quite to the blades.

Does an invertibrate not have a hard Shell or exoskeleton as it does not have a skeleton? the later might loose me my point here.

Inverts do not have a spinal column. This includes crustaceans, anemones, cephalopods, etc.
