I have my new T5 lighting for maybe a month now. Everyone seems to be doing very well.(including the algae) Anyway, my BTA has gone under the live rock. I've had him for about a year and he has always been out in the open. He seems okay and I read alot of postings about how they move to where the are happiest. But I thought the lighting would be better for him. I guess he doesn't agree. Another thing is he doesn't seem to be growing much at all. I do feed him some silversides once or twice a week, but I can't now that he is under the rock. Any thoughts on this?

    Bta

Another thing learned today!! I didn't realize that. So I guess he'll be okay if I can't feed him. I have read some posts saying that isn't necessary.

I only fed mine once or twice a month. And it didn't get a whole silverside. My guess is that your bta isn't used to the new lighting or it's been a drastic change. What kind of lighting did you have before and how old were the bulbs?

+1. What did you have before the current T5's? A lot of peeps recommend doing "light acclimation". If you made a pretty good jump in lighting, your BTA may be in a bit of a state of shock. Think of it this way: lighting is just another parameter. You dont want to change parameters too quickly now, do you?
Like so said, keep an eye on the water quality, and an even closer eye on the anemone. make sure it doesnt turn colors too drastically or turn slimy. Maybe even start running carbon if your not currently.

still some argue that t-5's aren't as powerful as mh, but there is a good example for you and others, the intensity of the t-5 is much stronger than the mh.

it depends alot on the halides wattage, and the bulbs age. i will agree t5 is very powerful but i don't think a anemone moving under a rock counts a proof that they re better then halide. he hasn't even said what lighting he had before the t5's

just keep in mind its impossible to put a equal amount of t5 light in the same space of a metal halide bulb

with that being said i am going with t5 for my 26 bowfront
