    Hey guys,

Today I got a new Green Bubble Tip Anemone, It was sitting nicely on a perch with good flow, but looking for it now, I have found it wedged under its perch trying to go under and through my rock work??

Should I be worried that its going all around the place? I would hate for it to get stuck or something.

Is there anything I can do to make it be still?

This is the inherent problem with Anemones especially BTA's. They will move about the tank and find the spot that they prefer regardless of whether you want them in that spot and attempts to prevent this can lead to the demise of the BTA.

The Anemone is brand new so I would let it be, cover power heads, watch overflows, make sure the lighting is sufficient and the water chemistry is good.

If all of it's needs are being met it will pick it's own spot that may or may not be to your liking.

Congrats on the Anemone, they are relatively easy once they acclimate.

OK, its going under some pretty tight rock work. I dont think i will be able to see it soon until it comes out the other side.

Cover a powerhead sounds like a great idea, but how do you actually do that?

I also have a second one, which I think is a rose bubble tip, but it hasnt moved anywhere yet and is still sitting there where I had it originally.

You can buy covers for power heads, or you can use a knee high stocking, and there are some DIY ones made with mesh.

Thanks I will definately check out some options. In the short term I will be keeping a very close eye.

My porcelain anemone crab has already started to house my pink bta which is super cool :).

    Thanks for the advice.

My nem oves about once every 2 months for no apparant reason. He moved every day or so when i first got him. Once he settles down you will have all kinds of questions about the things he does if your like me!! As long as your params are ok and you dont over feed he'll probly be just fine. They are so much fun and a great addition to the tank even with some of the drawbacks they have. Enjoy!!

It settled under a rock and seemed to like that spot, when silly me, changed up the scape and now its on the move again!.

I am so stupid. I hope I dont stress the poor thing out and it dies :(. I just want it to stop and be happy :).

Definately learned my lesson. DO NOT TOUCH ANYTHING :)

    Don't call yourself stupid Ryan.

It'll be fine. It'll find a nice place next to your prized coral at which point you'll probably have to move that. LOL This is the nature of nems and they're worth it as they're just awesome. :)

When I first got my RBTA... it walked around the tank for like 2 weeks, settled in a spot for a couple months, then walked for a couple days, then settled and stayed for 7 months... then moved for a couple days and has been sitting for another 5 months. Now that it's split a number of times, the main anemone is sitting in that same spot and the smaller ones are finding their happy spots now. When the 90 gallon happens, I look forward to the march of the anemones all over again. Though I'm thinking of propagating them and making back a little money (considering I've already made money on the purchase, since the LFS buys them back).
