Can you pull the end piece off of the filter, put a media bag or something like that over the end so nothing gets sucked in, and turn the filter back on? Then the anemone can work his way out over night. That's when ours seem to do the most moving.

we had the lights out for the most part of the day to hopefully encourage him to pull out.
i guess we will pull the bottom part of the tubing out so that only a small part of the tubing is at the top of the water to at least get some filtration. is filterfloss and a rubber band ok?

That should work. You just want to make sure you're not restricting the water flow so much that your filter isn't getting any water, but you also want to make sure there isn't a big enough hole in the pipe for fish or anything else to get in.

+1 on this. Let him remove himself if he will. Make sure you put him a place where he won't get carried away or moved around a lot by the currents in your tank.

Sounds like you've already done it, and cutting back a piece of the intake so you remove him isn't a bad idea if he doesn't remove himself.

'nems are tougher than you think if they were healthy before the accident. If conditions (water params, lighting) are right in your tank, they he will probably recover - SLOWLY. Expect to see him take several months to get back up to where he was.

How is it doing now? If it's still attached to the strainer, you can put a gentle current on the inside of the strainer to blow it out a bit.
