Hey I have what I think is bubble algae growing on one of the frags on my frag rack.

If it is bubble algae should i pluck the bubbles off by hand in a cup filled with water or something.. or should I put the frag in the sand for a day and let my 2 emerald crabs eat them??

Or should I not do either??

    Thanks guys!

i would put the frag n a cup of tank water and gently roll the algae off trying not to pop the bubbles, but if you do pop one,at least it'll be in the cup.

i'd take it out and give it a dip... you won't get all the spores via manual removal... plucking off these bubbles... it'll just grow back.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
No freshwater dips for sps IMO. Personally I would just pull the frag clean it in some tank water rinse it in more tank water and return it. Nice frag by the way.:)

If you dont want to manually remove it, emerald crabs will eat it. I had some bubble algae and they took it out rather quickly.

Agreed not FW, but I would do an iodine dip - which I suppose isn't exactly a SW dip :cheesy:. Well, truth be told, I wouldn't put that in my tank... But, seeing as how you already have it, I would dip it. To me, that's the lesser evil option.

It's not like you can scrub SPS.

That is hit or miss. I've never personally seen this happen - and I've had the ingredients to see it happen more than once ;)

    I wouldn't count on it.

I had one bubble of algae on a piece of LR and used a turkey baster to suck it off, and came off in one piece.
