thats fine, what are the lights in the 40 compared to the biocube? you may have to light acclimate them if theres a big difference

haha yea there is... the bio cube lights are just whatever it came with, they are 24 watt 10,000k daylight and the blue antinic light. And the 40 gal breeder has six T5 HO lights

You'll be fine. I get most of my corals from a guy with these 250w halides, and I just drip them for a little while and put em in my tank w/ 4 T5's.

So I should drip acclimate them? I haven't ever done that, whats the best way to set it up? I really don't want them to die or get damaged in the transfer. I posted something a while ago about transferring all my corals over, and someone said I could just pull them out and dip them then just put them in the tank.. Now im just confused.

I wouldn't worry about drip acclimating the coral, temp acclimation and light acclimation will be what you need to do. You do want to gently tease the corals closed before you move them to prevent the flesh tearing from the water contained in them.

hi to low doesnt matter, aw1447. shes talking going from low to high. if you just toss 'em in they may suffer some light shock as 6 T5's on a tank as shallow as a 40 BR can grow sps on the sand. take measures such as raising the light, putting the coral on the sand(best choice for both those corals and lower the lighting cycle. GL!

Okay thanks :) I will do that, should I just float them for a bit, how do I light acclimate them? place them at the bottom of the tank first?

Different people all seem to have there preferred way of acclimating corals, so really it's whatever your most comfortable with. You could put them in a little ziplock, then put the bag in your tank to let them get used to the temp then every 15 mins or so add a little cup of water, and continue that for about an hour. That would be the easiest way IMO. If you really want to drip them, place your corals in a bucket or w/e with some of the water from their existing tank. Then get some clear tubing and tie a knot in it tight enough so the water comes out in a slow trickle, about 1 or 2 drops per second. So just siphon the water from the 40 gal into the bucket, and take out a cup of water every 15 mins as the water rises. Then after 45 mins, the bucket will contain mostly only water from the 40 and you can add them into the DT!

But like I said, whatever you want to do! Dripping is not a must IMO, but thats how I acclimate my new corals. Personally, I'd do the bag thing like I mentioned first. Its how I added a new RBTA of mine a few days ago and had no problems and the nem is doing great.

I really wouldn't worry about light acclimating them though. Just place them at the bottom of your tank at first, and let them get comfy and back to how they looked when they were in your 28, then move them to your desired position.
