After becoming a proud owner of a nice new piece of bubble coral i was wondering on the best location for it in my tank. I did a little research but i was wondering the opinions of 3'reefers.

I'm running a mixture of t5's that are 12 and 14K globes that are between 5 and 8mth old with one actinic(spelling, i know :p).

K+ of course for useful posts :)

What's the total wattage of the T5's?
They usually do well at the bottom or close to bottom of the tank. They don't like much flow. Give em moderate light.
Supplemental feedings may be necessary. I like to use cyclop-eeze as well as frozen mysid and brine shrimp spot feeding.
Some also feed silversides finely chopped.

Bubbles are generally slow growers – because of this people think they are not happy and begin to second guess placement…need to let them be once placed if they are doing well enough.

I have always had success with strong(ish) lighting – placing the coral 75% up my reef. I don’t know if you dive – I do quiet often, and I try and pay attention to coral placement when I do. Bubbles are generally protected from strong current by larger corals and or rock. So try and place him where there is current, but he’s not getting hit hard.

You have good calcium right ? If you want to occasionally target feed him do it in the evening when you see the feeding tentacles come out – they are actually little piggy’s when they want to be.

Of course it goes without saying....pics of his progress ~!

I have a nice size one in the middle of my tank. It's doing great and opens huge!

I have a pearl bubble, it like low to moderate flow and can adapt to almost any type of lighting. They are very slow growers, but you can add a lot of flesh to it by feeding it occassionally. My bubble's skeleton hasn't grown much at all, but it has expanded quite a bit from when I got it.

so many different places for it. i think you may just have to find its own sweet spot. i had mine up high, under 6x54 t5's with low flow. with 4 months it went from tennis ball size to the size of a loaf of rye bread. but ive also been told thwey work low in the tank with low flow. good luck with and hoping it does great for you. they are a cool coral.

Mine is in the middle-upper section of the tank, off to the side so it's not as-bombarded by the lighting.

unfortunately your all going to have to wait till i get home from work for pics.
I do dive, in fact i'm going diving to Fiji in about a month, the parents offered and i could hardly say no. Normally i get distracted by the fish, but i must pay more attention now i guess.
I target feed some of my corals last night and they seemed to take a few frozen brine so it all seems good.

I must admit, it was seeing it do so well in your tank that prompted me to get it.

Do you have any progress pics ?

i hope it does well too!

I've sort of found a enclave in the rock work for it sit. Photos soon :p
