Added a bubble coral 2 weeks ago, about 5-6 inches fully extended, 3.5 inch skeleton. It's in a corner on the sand, the nearest coral is probably 6-8 inches away. Light water flow, just enough to make the tentacles/polys wave a little. The first few days the coral fully extended its polyps, but as time has passed, the bubbles inflate less and more sweeper tenticles are being extended. I've changed carbon twice now, thinking it could be chem warfare, but doesnt seem to help.

It will feed, eating mysis and even one of my anthias about a week ago (I think the anthias passed overnight, caught the bubble eating the remains). Below is a photo that shows it eating the anthias. This is how the coral looks all day, never fully expanding. Is it just acclimating, need more flow, warefare, or normal?

Wow, that sucks. :( But your 'nem looks fine to me, other than trying to consume what's left of the anthias...

Yeah, I wasnt too happy with seeing the anthias gone, much less in the bubble's mouth...

Wow, sorry to hear that. Must be a healthy bubble coral to be able to eat a fish. I would guess the fish was not so healthy though, but how big were they.

The fish was about 2 inches. I was getting concerned about him though, as he was not coming out from the rocks to eat. He just sat in his "cave". A day later this happens.

My question has more to do with the bubble's appearance, and whether it's normal for sweepers to always be extended, or if something is irritating it?

Those are feeders, not sweepers. A healthy sign.

your bubble is doing fine, in awhile it will expand, putting the sweepers away during the day and at night will decrease but with sweepers out.
myns the green kind and was about that size when i got it, now its about 10 inches wide during the day. just been feeding it mysis and brine, but think i might treat it to chunks of fish looking at yours lol
