Bubble Magus BM160?

I'm going to Nuocean now to order mine. Tired of shopping and scraping the algae off my glass. I will keep you all advised how it works when it arrives.

What pump do you have feeding your skimmer?

 

i have a marineland 1100. Its a 300 gph pump.

 

I also clean my collection cup out weekly. Its usually atleast 3/4 full every week of just as dark of skimate as you see there. I clean it out every saturday.

 

That's about the equivalent to what I have. Do you have a valve on it to throttle it back or do you run it wide open?

Oh one thing I did have happen to my BM160 is that little tube to drain the collection cup broke on me and leaked skimmate on the floor. Not exactly sure how it broke but it for some reason had gotten brittle.

 

I run the air wide open, but throttle it down with the return pipe to get the water level i need. Mine also broke, but on the end after the valve. It does get brittle.

And the air line that goes to the silencer, from the pump. I actually removed the silencer, and ran a piece of air line tubing through the lid, so it hangs about 3/4 inch below the lid (into the collection cup) and connected the other end to the air line going to the pump. (hope that makes sense). Thus, if the skimmer goes nuts, and overfills the collection cup, it sucks the skimate into the needle wheel pump, and stops the bubbling. There fore, it never overflows the cup

If you look closelly in that picture, you can see the line running down from the lid to the pump line.
