I have been using a Bubble Magus NAC6A skimmer for a few days now it has been a pain to adjust without overflowing. now i finally got it to stop overflowing but its not producing any skimmate. Anyone know why?

there is what as know as a break in period. it can be a few days or 2 weeks. the overflowing is because it is to low on the water. you can help speed up the break in process by just letting it run, or run it in a water viniger solution.

    hope this helps ;D

+1 it is breaking in. Leave the gate open all the way for about a week. Then close the gate to where the head of foam starts at the neck on the skimmer cup. After this, make small adjustments once a day to get the setting you want.

That is very odd. My NAC6 is very quiet and stays on the mark. Did you get this used? Did you take the pump apart? Do you use an ATO?

If it is loud it could be the meshwheel impeller. Who did you order from? Many times the meshwheel is not properly attached to the margnet and it has to be pushed on when it arrives before use. Did it come with a needle wheel? Who did you order it from?

i bought it at my lfs new and its not using a meshwheel its using a needle wheel i guess the manufacture dont make them standard with meshwheels anymore cause they break easily so the new ones from the factory are sent out using needle wheels. do you have to push the wheel on when putting the skimmer together i was told that after the main assembly it was just plug and play never told i needed to mess with the pump?
