    Hi all,

I am trying to take apart my skimmer to clean it and the pump, but both me and my gf cannot for the life of us seem to be able to get it apart.

I can't really remember how the pump went together, even taking a look at the diagram and trying to work it backwards isn't working. The part i'm having trouble with is disconnecting the base with the chamber.

How do you get the pump inlet off of the pump, so you can take the bottom base off.

I've tried twisting it, pulling it, doing both at the same time, swearing at it; nothing seems to work.

Any help would be much appreciated.

I'm getting frustrated at this since I feel any reasonably intelligent person shouldn't be foiled by 3 parts. :hothead:

Throw us a bone and tell us which Bubble Magus Skimmer this is. :)

    I have a NAC6 running, maybe I can help.

    Figured it out.

The problem was the venturi valve piece on the reaction chamber had become lodged in the inlet part of the pump. Apparently my iron like grip when putting it together fused the two parts. My gf ended up being able to pop the front half of the pump apart leaving the 2 parts together with the wall of the chamber in between. I took about 25 minutes of me cranking on it with a vice grips on one side and that rubber contact sheet on the other side to get it apart.

Moral of this story: don't twist so hard when putting your skimmer together.

Not much experience yet but so far I love mine. Quiet for a skimmer and easy to adjust. Nice bubbles and with ATO hooked up I am even getting some skimmate with just rock and sand on a new tank.

What model do you all have?

I have the NAC6, and I really like it as a skimmer. I had to remove the muffler on mine though since when I was cleaning it one time it fell into the water, got wet, and doesn't allow enough air through it now. Other than that, no complaints from me. If I'm skimming heavy I can get a good 1/2 full container of dark slime every 2 days from it.
