i have a 55g tank with can filter, hob skimmer, ans some kool ass pwrhead the lfs said i should get. im about a week into my cycle and have green slime all over the place. i was thinking algae and petco said it was a bacteria? if that the case who do i get rid of it? have a few fish and crabs in the tank atm. have a lg hermit crab with a living coral on it. any way to keep coral alive while cycle is finishing? i WANT lots of coral and some fish looking at small ones since tank is 55g with 115lb live rock. and if im able to find shells that the crab likes how do i take off the coral to place it somewhere else? i have MH lighting and im going to have to make a mount to pull it farther away from the tank for the brightness. but if the coral lives sweet. i think its a zoa. once my camera works i wanta take pics to share with everyone and time the good and the bad thinks with the tank. thank you for your time and lots of LOVE to u all!

115lbs in a 55 gal? that must be either some dense rock or a pretty filled up tank.

You already asked the same basic question in your other thread and the general recommendations was to return the livesotck or at least quit buying more and let the tank cycle.

First thing I would recommend is think about a new LFS. Any LFS worth thier money spent very likely wouldnt have sold you anything for a week old tank.

Are you telling them the livestock you are buying is for a week old tank? If you are and they sell you stuff anyways you need to coonsider shopping elsewhere imo.

As far you your cycle, check any of the intro threads and read up onto.

The biggest piece of advice I can offer you in "patience" this hobby is filled with it, unfortunately for new reefers like me and you it kind of sucks but for the money spent patience is well worth it.

Let the tank cycle, and put a hold on buying more livestock.

As far as the survival of your current livestock its a crap shoot. Like mentioned in your other thread the ammonia in the cycle will damage a fishes gills and weaken thier immune systems, this can lead to health problems for the livestock even if they do survive.

You do not need lights to cycle a tank. It is best to not run them at all untill the cycle is done.
More importantly you should not have ANY livestock in your tank while it cycles. When the cycle is done then, you can start with a CUC. and one maybe two small fish.
    Take your time!!!!!
