The microbubbles my Remora skimmer is still putting out (after running for a month) are driving me crazy. Does anyone have any suggestions about how to make it stop??? I tried sticking a block of foam inside the skimmer right in front of the overflow, but still no luck.
I'm not sure I want to get one of AquaC's prefilters. I've heard mixed reviews...

    bubbles

have you checked your water level?
One thing I've noticed is the lower the water in the tank
the more bubbles you will get.
    FWIW.

    Hmmm...interesting idea...
The Remora overflow is still underwater, but I'll bring the level up a bit and see if that helps.
    Thanks!

pre-filter will help a lot though. look into one. Using the 100 or 200 micron filter sheets.

The Remora is a hang on, eh? If it is, that's your problem. Most bak paks or hang ons will cause micro bubbles and there is very little solution but to turn the skimming down which is a no no anyway.

My concern with the prefilter is that it could run dry.
Yes, the Remora is a hang-on model. Are you saying that if it was in the sump that the baffles etc would take care of the microbubbles before the return to the tank?
I'll have to try to track down some filter sheets of the sizes you suggested. Thanks.

As time goes on the bubbles will decrease some but a bubble trap helps. I used the bubble trap box on my remora pro and it worked very well. I have since moved my skimmer to my sump with a built in bubble trap baffle and have had no problems even with upgrading the skimmer pump to a 650gph pump.
